TEM stands for Transmission Electron Microscope. This type of microscope will let you see images in two dimensional. You can obtain thin slices of specimen and the electronic ray surpass all the way through this. Just like SEM, it has high magnification and high resolution too. Transmission Electron Microscope also uses electron illumination like SEM.
